Machine Guards & Enclosures

For many machinery installations there are no standard guards available, either because the machine is unique or because of the way it is installed, operated, maintained or adapted to suit the user's individual requirements.

Sheet metal guards

Sheet metal guards are ideal for applications where swart, coolant or cutting chips need to be contained. Viewing windows can be incorporated where necessary, and safe access can be provided by sliding or hinged doors. Additional removable panels can be installed to enable maintenance activities to be performed.

Mesh machine guards

Frameworks manufactured from robust steel tube or angle are in-filled with wire mesh. Durable and cost-effective, Totalduct mesh guards provide excellent visibility of the machinery or process. Access for operatives or materials handling equipment is provided in the form of hinged or sliding gates with appropriate interlocks, or electro-sensitive protective devices can be installed, such as light barriers or laser area scanners.

Stainless Steel Guards

Guards manufactured from stainless steel are ideal for applications in the food, drink and pharmaceutical industries, where hygiene and ease of cleaning are paramount.

Perimeter Guards

Totalduct offer a range of solutions for perimeter guarding applications. These include different specifications of framework using panels made from square tube, flanged hollow sections or angle iron, with support posts made from different steel hollow sections.

The choice of specification will be determined by the customer's preference and the anticipated use and abuse of the guards. Material options for perimeter guards include welded or woven wire mesh, sheet steel or combinations of these. Special panels are designed, as required, with cut-outs for conveyors, control panels, etc.

Various styles of access doors are available including hinged single or double doors, sliding doors with top or bottom track and trackless cantilevered doors for crane or forklift access. A full range of compatible interlocks is available to fit each type of door.
